Half-Life is easily one of the best PC games ever because it isn't just one of those 'any excuse to kill something' games. It has a very strong plot which helps to keep the player feeling as if they are there, jumping when they get hit unexpectedly, and actually feeling for characters which they don't manage to save. Every character and monster in the game serves some purpose, whether it is opening a locked door, giving vital plot information or merely there for shock effect (and believe me there are a lot of shocks), from scientists, to hornet gun wielding aliens, to the annoying and mysterious government man, every character is there for a reason. Now I did say it has a strong plot, hell I've played through the whole game 3 times and discovered new things and gained more understanding of the plot each time, so I bet you're thinking it's one of those "more than 60 minutes of FMV sequence" games. Well it's not. There's no FMV sequences, in fact the WHOLE game without exception is viewed from first person. It relies on you talking to the scientists and security guards you meet and overhearing the military so you can piece the truth together yourself. Basically if you haven't already BUY IT !
